Cannabis Remediation Technology Available in Minnesota from Clean Cannabis Research LLC

Our Mission

Clean Cannabis Research LLC's mission is to advance research and market access to precision cannabis decontamination. We believe that remediation, particularly in the context of precision X-ray remediation, should be treated like any other scientific endeavor. This means it must follow a validated process, utilize verified treatment delivery methods, and maintain permanent records of everything.

Our Technology

Our Precision X-ray Remediation:

We employ electrically generated precision X-ray irradiation for effective cannabis decontamination, designed to eliminate microbial contamination. Ionizing photons penetrate materials, disrupting microbial DNA, resulting in the death of organisms by making them unable to replicate.

Our SteriRad precision X-ray systems generate radiation from electricity, eliminating the need for decaying isotope sources like cobalt-60 or cesium-137. This means there are no sealed sources on our premises, no source transport or disposal issues, and no radioactive waste generated at any point. When the machine is off, there is no radiation.

Our process is athermal, meaning it does not add heat to the material during cannabis decontamination. Our X-ray tubes are positioned significantly further away from the treated product compared to traditional irradiation methods. The ionizing energy at our remediation doses deposits negligible heat. With our treatment, terpenes, moisture content, and water activity are preserved as they were before they went into the machine.

Additionally, X-rays penetrate the full depth of the materials, allowing us to inactivate deep-seated endophytic microbes that surface-biased methods often miss, all without adding heat or chemistry.

We Adjust Our Doses To Match Each Unique Situation:

Different contaminants and varying levels of contamination require tailored approaches in cannabis decontamination.

We determine the target dose on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the specific composition of each material. Utilizing our catalog of past treatment data, we identify the lowest effective dose necessary to ensure efficacy without excess.

This precision is critical to Clean Cannabis Research. Under-treating does not resolve the issue, while over-treating risks damaging the product we aim to save. We believe that the right dose must be carefully determined rather than defaulted, continually researching the optimal amount for each unique circumstance.

Every dose is verified post-delivery and recorded in meticulous treatment logs, with documented proof of consistency and quality maintained for every run.

We Also Offer Remediation by Hydrocarbon Extraction:

While precision X-ray remediation effectively targets contaminants with DNA, it does not address heavy metals, foreign materials, or pesticide residues, which lack DNA.

For such contaminants, Clean Cannabis Research provides remediation through hydrocarbon extraction. Most metals and foreign materials are not soluble in hydrocarbon solvents, allowing for their exclusion from the extract during the separation process. Any residual contaminants that do pass through can often be minimized by targeted post-extraction processing techniques like absorbent media or chromatographic filtration.

Whether a specific failure is remediable via this method depends on the type of contaminant, its concentration, and the applicable OCM disposition requirements for that lot. We will review your COA and provide an honest evaluation of how we can assist.

Our Technology Is Operated By Licensed Operators:

Our treatment operations are managed by HMP LLC (MICRO-L24-000063-04-AUR). We also collaborate with an OCM licensed transporter, stayLIT LLC (TRN-L25-000044-01-TRANS) (Medical and Adult-use) for transporting products between cultivators, our treatment facility, and OCM licensed laboratories. All treated products are tracked through the OCM METRC compliance portal.

Our X-ray systems are registered and operated in alignment with Minnesota radiation control standards under a designated Radiation Safety Officer and adhere to a comprehensive written safety program.

We are a service provider, not a testing laboratory. Confirmatory compliance testing of materials we have treated will be conducted by an OCM accredited independent lab.

Our Research

Precision X-ray remediation is not new technology; it has been effectively sterilizing medical devices and safeguarding the food supply for decades. This process works on cannabis for the same reason it is effective in other applications: ionizing energy disrupts microbial DNA without the need for heat, additional chemicals, or leaving residues behind.

What is novel is the rigorous application of this technology to cannabis decontamination.

Currently, the cannabis industry often treats dosage as a mere setting rather than an essential question. When asked about the dosage their product received and the rationale behind that number, many operators struggle to provide an answer, as this information is frequently overlooked or undocumented. Such practices are unsatisfactory for a product that is meant to be inhaled.

We treat every commercial run as a valuable data point. We meticulously record what went into the process, the condition of the material, the dosage received, and what emerged afterward. Over time, this builds a substantial body of evidence that the cannabis industry has yet to establish, specifically regarding the lowest effective dose for various types of material.

We are committed to sharing our findings. By disseminating knowledge about cannabis decontamination, we believe that it can benefit the entire supply chain; collective knowledge promotes safety and ensures that the products do not put consumers at risk of illness.

This is why the word 'research' is part of our name.
